While it is certainly possible to build smaller functioning curves as well, many toppling projects rely on a setup of exactly ten dominoes between the start and the end point of the curve. This provides a good tradeoff between the required space and the resulting toppling security of the curve.

The key to building a perfect curve is to use four flat dominoes for determining the correct end point of the curve beforehand. Once start and end point are clear, the ten dominoes in between can be built in two distinct steps to ensure proper curvature of the resulting setup.
